Membership
Membership of ASUN will allow you to access regular updates on new stroke service developments nationally and internationally, to participate in the rollout of stroke services, to participate in the development and revision of stroke care guidelines, and to become part of a growing network of clinical stroke experts across Australasia.
Background
ASUN aims to establish a communication network between stroke service providers in Australasia.
ASUN operates as a multidisciplinary network that:
1. Allows access to stroke specialists around Australasia for advice in establishing new services.
2. Provides an expert clinical group for dissemination of and feedback on state and national stroke initiatives that impact on clinical practice.
3. Establishes ongoing communication and networking amongst stroke specialists for discussion of clinical issues.
4. Provides a distribution point for information about current updates in clinical practice including initial versions and updates of National Stroke Foundation/Stroke Society of Australasia endorsed practice guidelines.
5. Provides a framework for development of stroke care performance indicators.
The network operates under an executive committee chaired by Dr Michael Pollack and Dr Chris Levi. It currently comprises representatives from around Australia and New Zealand acting as chairs of state-based executive committees, as well as an NSF representative. State committees are under development, but will be multidisciplinary and responsible for maintaining and disseminating communication within their own states and communicating state-based initiatives to the overarching executive committee.
